The waters in and around the Algarve offer some of the finest sailing conditions that the world has ever seen. The northern trade winds sweep the west coast of Portugal giving an almost constant strong northerly breeze. You can opt to head west, towards Cape St. Vincent where the northern trade winds are stronger or travel east in the direction of southern Spain to enjoy lighter, gentler winds. The strength of the wind you require on your Portugal yachting holiday often depends on how far east or west you wish to travel from your home port of Vilamoura, Portugal.
